Membership Changes as of 1 July 2011
Please be advised that as of 1 July 2011 CINZ will start operating a new membership structure. This will have an effect on current Bronze and Silver members. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to be involved in the long and thorough consulting process – through the last two AGMs and the questionnaire that was distributed.
Based on member feedback the decision has been made to go ahead and streamline the Bronze and Silver membership levels to reflect one domestic level (which will be called Silver), while at the same time retaining the two international levels unchanged (Gold and Platinum). We have set the fee level for the new Silver level at $650 plus gst per annum. We understand this will be an increase for Bronze members and because of this have kept it as low as possible. At the same time those current Silver members will enjoy a saving. We believe we have taken the most fair and equitable course possible and would like to take this opportunity to assure the membership that this is not an attempt to gauge money. There is no financial benefit to CINZ and at best it will be fiscally neutral. We have also put together a comprehensive package of benefits – one of which is that now previous Bronze members have a board seat available through the new silver membership level. We will publish our revised membership brochure in April and all details of membership benefits will be included in this. These will be mailed to you upon publication. From 1 July as your invoice date rolls around you will be invoiced for Silver membership at the new membership rate.
In the meantime if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Paul Hailes by email. |

Australian Office Update
It has been a busy start to the year for the CINZ Australian office. We kick started the year with hosting an intimate lunch for Platinum members and key decision-makers in Sydney. A special menu, designed by award winning Kiwi chef – Justin North of Bécasse, was matched with quality New Zealand wines and was the highlight of the event. Alan Trotter, CEO CINZ ,welcomed guests and had a warm message of “mateship” between Australia and New Zealand, and for Aussies to cross the Tasman and soak up the Rugby World Cup atmosphere nationwide in September and October this year.
This was quickly followed with New Zealand putting its best foot forward when we stepped out at AIME 2011 – the premier meetings and incentives event for the Asia Pacific region. New Zealand’s main stand – 100% Pure New Zealand –showcased 18 New Zealand suppliers, all but one of whom have exhibited at AIME in past years. In addition to the main stand, New Zealand also hosted a new hospitality stand with 7 new suppliers and on offer was some delicious food and wine for which New Zealand is renowned.
Our focus over the coming few months will be working on the Australian Hosted Buyer programme for MEETINGS 2011, finalising our first e-Korero newsletter to clients and getting the message out there that Christchurch will be challenged for a while in hosting large conventions but when it comes back on line it will be bigger and better than ever. In the meantime the rest of New Zealand will be welcoming our Australian clients with open arms in true Kiwi spirit. |

CINZ Website
Homepage We have refreshed the homepage of the CINZ website – www.conventionsnz.co.nz – to incorporate a stronger focus for buyers. Of course you are still just as important to CINZ !!,but will find your member log-in button slightly further down the page on the left hand side. The members area remains essentially the same, some interesting topics on the forum have been put up recently and Alan’s blog is always worth reading.
Facebook The other point to mention here – although not directly part of the website, is that CINZ now has a Facebook page. We will be communicating this separately in the near future, however check it out now and ‘like’ us!!
Your Contact Details Also – a reminder to check your listing on the website to make sure it is up to date. Has your organisation had any personnel changes recently – make sure the contact details on our database are as up to date as they can be. Contact Paul Hailes if you need your member log-in and password.
Marketing Opportunities Are you utilising the CINZ Korero to pass on your news to our buyer database? Sending through any situations vacant you may have? Using our special offer section to promote your own special offers? Make sure you are taking advantage of the channels that we manage for you – they are a great tool and available only to CINZ members to help you promote your product to buyers.
Christchurch and Canterbury Updates To our members in Christchurch and Canterbury - we now have a page on our website which lists all updates for Canterbury and Christchurch venues and services. This is accessed through the homepage of the website. If you would like to get a message through to conference organisers please email Rebecca with details and we will get your information loaded as soon as we can. |

International Bid Win for Christchurch
Some good news for Christchurch! CINZ is very pleased to announce the success of the bid to bring the 6th Congress on Earthquake Engineering to Christchurch in 2015. CINZ approached Canterbury University last year following the first earthquake and the decision was made to put in a bid for the 6th Congress in 2015. In mid January we learnt from the convenor that the bid had been successful. Initial figures show delegate numbers are around 450 with an estimate of 150 accompanying persons. Ironically with the second earthquake in February Christchurch will now be the focus of almost every earthquake engineer throughout the world but at least that should auger well for an extremely successful and meaningful event in 2015.
And that is all the news from CINZ headquarters for now. Have a good March, and to those in Christchurch and Canterbury – stay strong, we are all thinking of you. |
